St. Michael School 8th Grade Trip

Traditionally, each 8th grade class at St. Michael School gets to take an end of the year class trip. Some of the kids have been together for 9 years and this is the last event they will have all together. They will go off to various high schools and most will lose touch with one another. The parents try and make this trip a memorable one. This year the kids voted to go to Cedar Point. Back in October there was a meeting between the administration of the school and the head volunteer in charge of the end of the school year activities. One of these activities is the end of the year trip. The administration advised our volunteer that we were allowed only 1 fundraiser. We conducted that fundraiser and turned all the money over to the school. The administration advised us that the parents would not have to pay any additional out of pocket costs. Now that the planning stages have begun for this trip we were informed that the school has changed its policy and the end of the year class trip is no longer being considered a school function, therefore, none of the school funds that were raised by the students can be used to fund this event. 

        Needless to say the volunteers are now scrambling around to try and figure how we are going to make this happen for the children. Additional fundraisers are being considered but time is of the essence. In order to pay for a charter bus, admission to the park, drink bands good for all day, a lunch planned for the students to eat together one last time, and food and drink for the bus trip. We are asking to raise $3500.
