So many people have reached out about a way to help Blake and Hailey in this uncharted time of little Hailey Holder's (H2) life.  This sweet girl was diagnosed with cancer on May 16 as she celebrated her 1st birthday.  Less than a week later she received the diagnosis of Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.

Hailey Holder's mommy  noticed a small knot on her left thigh. Blake and Hailey felt that she needed to see her pediatrician . He sent her for an X-ray and a short time later  she was on her journey to a diagnosis.   Hailey Holder has, in a short span of 10 days, had to be sedated for the CT of her leg, MRI, tumor biopsy that quickly turned into a complete tumor removal, CT of her lungs, PET scan and is scheduled for more biopsies and the placement of her port.

According to Children's Oncology Group (COG) the protocol for Hailey Holder's treatment of Rhabdo consists of 42 rounds of chemo, radiation daily for 4- 6 weeks during her cycles of chemo,  many more scans and she will have maintenance chemo for an undetermined amount of time.  Cancer treatments are difficult but to watch a small child endure these treatments is almost unimaginable. This is a parents worst nightmare!

In order for Blake and Hailey to focus on the care and attention H2 needs during this time, we put together a plan of the amount it would take to keep the framework of their life intact. Hailey has recently started a new job and they have incurred all new insurance deductibles. The mortgage, cars, household bills, and offsetting the lost wages is a substantial amount.  This family will be faced with the burden of living away from home periodically during a portion of treatment. The goal will be set at $75,000

For all those who want to help in a tangible way for this lengthy fight to Hailey Holder's recovery, a donation to help keep this family focused on her recovery and not the anticipated bills that have already started flowing in daily.  The goal is to reduce as much stress as possible for this precious family.

Week 4 of chemo is DONE!! This has been a tuff week on H2. She had chemo infusions Monday- Friday this week. Hailey Holder continues be a warrior and fighting like a champ. She was able to spend time at home in the evening and sleep in her own bed ... she loves her bed. H2 continues to laugh and play even on days when we know she isn’t feeling the best.

This coming up week will be a scan week and that is scary time for Blake, Hailey and all of us that love this sweet girl. This week we ask everyone to join us in lifting our girl up in prayer. Praying that this PET scan shows no cancer cells! H2 still has a very long fight and we appreciate the love, support and many prayers from all of the community.

H2 UPDATE from Hailey Allen

Our first outpatient chemotherapy experience was today. It was quite challenging to keep the girl entertained but we did it! She even got the coolest interactive duck that has a port provided to all cancer kids by AFLAC! We are so blessed to be treated by the best team that truly love our girl. All of the nurses in our oncology office are real life angels that love every single kid. I had the pleasure of meeting a woman today whose baby started chemo at 6 days old. He is now in remission and thriving. It gives me hope to see that babies before her have come out the other side of a devastating diagnosis even stronger than they went in!

Thank you for the continued prayers and support. Blake and I are being blessed every day by kindness. We are fighting this monster as a family and for that, we are forever grateful.

H2 UPDATE:

Just when you think the news can’t be any worst...

Hailey Holder’s biopsy confirmed that the four spots on her opposite leg are Aveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. She is now considered stage IV and high risk. I am awaiting a call from our oncologist here in Macon for when we report for chemo. Dr. Olson (the Rhabdo specialist at CHOA) is allowing us to do our chemo here in Macon where we can be close to our support system. There will be additional surgery that will be done in Atlanta as well as radiation.

We are likely to start chemotherapy on Monday where we will be hospitalized for at least 5 nights. We are beyond devastated at this news but we are hopeful that our girl has the best team of doctors that will see her through. Thank you all for supporting us through the worst period of our life.
