&

HIS

story.

the shortened story.

Frank Robert Gross was born August 19, 1985.

We very much loved each other even though being young children our actions did not mirror that emotion.

We loved to play G.I. JOES together.

Heck.

I preferred em over Barbie.

Frank was an elite athlete, baseball scholarships would ensue, but eventually, he felt drawn to something else - he loved artwork.

So just like all my family, he decided to chase after his dream & attended Full Sail University.

Full Sail was intense, but Frank never seemed stressed out.

In order to pay off student loans & because he had always had a desire to serve our God given country, Frank enlisted in the United States Military.

Less than a month into his first deployment, July 16, 2011,

he was killed by an ied.

On August 19, 2011, his birthday,

we buried my brother in Arlington National Cemetery.

As you can imagine,

life has not been easy.

Parents aren’t supposed to lose a child.

A sister is not supposed to lose a brother at the age of 27.

Yeah, it’s morbid, but, it’s something many of us who have lost think about.

“When my parents pass, who will be there for me?”

I don’t get to have nieces or nephews.

Holidays are hard.

Hell, every day is hard.

BUT.

I know Frank would not want his death to be in vain.

He would totally roll his eyes because he always thought I was intense.

Frank was too.

He just didn’t know it yet.

Wasn’t given that opportunity to grow into the man he was supposed to be.

Whatever the case.

God has a plan.

I firmly believe that.

I wanna make little bro proud.

In September, I plan on bringing a few veterans up to Lake Tahoe to go paddle boarding with my friend, Tarin O’Donnell.

She recently bought a bunch of boards &

I thought it was pretty cool & humbling she reached out to me & asked if she could help host an event.

I wanna give back every ounce of me I can.

thank you to all who have sacrificed so much for us whether in combat or not.

being in the service is a sacrifice alone.

See y’all in September.
