Support Susanna’s Leukemia Battle

Donation protected
I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support. A summary of the last week for my wife and I: Susanna went to Urgent Care feeling ill. She’s had stomach issues off and on for several months now, but none of them were strong enough to motivate her to visit a doctor. She believed she had maybe picked up a parasite on a recent trip to Mexico. Urgent Care requested a variety of tests. When the tests came back, they called and advised we urgently needed to get her to the ER. Her white cell count was through the roof (Normal being around 12k and hers being at 400k) and her hemoglobin was very low at 7.9k. They even made mention of blood transfusion and said she was the healthiest sick person they had ever seen. Upon arriving in the ER, the nurses panicked once they saw the test results and we had various doctors flooding in and out of the room. Things quickly went from stomach issues to Leukemia. My wife was in the hospital for 3 days. During this time, her hemoglobin continued to fall, and when it hit 6k, they gave her a blood transfusion to get her back over 7k. She didn’t quite make it, and they had to give her a second transfusion. She underwent CT, MRI, X-Ray, and Ultrasound tests, and 5 or 6 rounds of blood tests. After all of this, it was determined she has CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia). Fortunately, this is a completely treatable form of Leukemia with medication, and it’s been caught before it became Acute. The stomach issues were caused by her spleen and liver being enlarged due to the white cell count. In a way, we consider ourselves quite fortunate as things could have certainly been much, much worse. The prescribed medicine (Tasigna) is extremely expensive ($12k for a 28 day supply) but we’ve managed to receive a 2 week sample while the Hematologist works on getting us a 3 month trial. We are very hopeful. From there, the insurance battle will begin. If all goes well, she can go into remission and no longer need the medicine, but we are uncertain how long that will take. Again, thank you to everyone for your support. We greatly appreciate it.

BoostNationNYC is calling out fellow car enthusiasts who come together because of one thing....we have a great love for building unbelievable cars. We have created this gofundme page asking the car family community to come together for a different reason and help a fellow brother out James McKibben.

James has been a great part of the car community and amazing to work with. He has been an integral part of helping attain pieces of a puzzle for our dream builds. Lets help him with his dream of his wife Susanna getting better.

Susanna who has been feeling unwell was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia (CML). Doctors believe it is a form of Leukemia that can be treated but with tremendously expensive medication.

The results did not come easily as it was diagnosed from doing many and extensive tests, scans, MRI's, blood transfusions, hospital stays...Thats just to name a few. Soon very astronomical bills will be coming their way already from the tests, procedures and hospital stays completed.

The next steps for Susanna will be to start treatment with extremely expensive medications which run $11,000 or more a month. There will be a long road ahead of them and we keep them in our thoughts and hearts.

We all know how difficult it is to get covered even for the simplest of tests and the fine print and loop holes that insurance companies always seem to have and government aid will hardly put even a dent in what they've accumulated in bills and now treatment.

We appreciate any help and any amount is not too small. In the end it all comes from the heart and with good intentions. Thanks so much from the bottom of our hearts!
