Anthony's Medical Treatment

My brother Anthony is a Green Beret, Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. During his 17 years of service, he’s had five combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan for a total of more than 30 months. Additionally, Anthony has deployed multiple times to South and Central America. Yes, he is a bad a$$, and he needs your help.

In April 2022, Anthony was helping a friend remove trees from his property. While cutting down the last tree, the trunk twisted and fell on Anthony as he was running for safety, paralyzing him from the neck down.

He suffered a spinal cord compression/impingement at C3-C6 as well as a burst fracture at T9. He also sustained two brain contusions, several broken ribs, a pneumothorax and a shattered femoral head.

After months of recovery and multiple surgeries, Anthony, “Lucky” as they call him, is home with his wife Emily and three little boys; the youngest being born during his rehab.

Thanks to God, and a lot of grit, hard work and determination, Anthony has already surpassed doctor’s expectations and has seen wonderful gains. But there is still so much progress to make and work to be done.

Though he has regained movement in all four limbs now, and is even able to take steps with assistance (which we are incredibly grateful for!), almost all tasks require assistance from others because of his limited hand and arm function.

With new treatment opportunities on the horizon for this summer, that are unfortunately *not* covered by insurance, Anthony could get closer to his old self. At the very least, we’re hopeful these alternative therapies could give Anthony his independence and dignity back.

Anthony has also been in therapy with spinal cord injury rehab specialist and physiotherapist Daniel West (who has become social media famous for his unconventional but very successful methods of getting his patients to walk after SCI). Though his sessions with Daniel are another therapy *not* covered by insurance, being under his care is worth its weight in gold, as he is the one responsible for getting steps out of Anthony!

We are grateful to have had the support of family and friends, but we facing daunting costs upwards of $75K to continued therapy in helping recover.

Though Anthony and Emily have not asked for help, I am asking for support with his ongoing treatment as I strongly feel they more than deserve it. Anthony has sacrificed so much for our country.

Of the money collected, 100% of the proceeds will go directly toward Anthony’s uninsured therapies. Any extra funds will be donated to the military nonprofits that have helped the family this past year. We are all so appreciative of any and all support!
