Company Overview
A volunteer organization in Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico dedicated to the homeless animals of Loreto. We provide clinics to spay and neuter any animal that is brought in. We will also make every attempt to arrange adoptions for the homeless dogs and cats. We also are committed to providing education on the need to spay and neuter pets and about caring for their well-being.

Why we are raising funds

In September 2014 Hurricane Odile hit the Baja Peninsula and impacted Loreto directly with high winds and heavy rains.  Our clinic sustained damage from the storm in addition to having some equipment that already needed repair.
Here is a list of the damage that was sustained and the items that needed replacing:
1,  The clinic's power pole was damaged during the storm and needed to be replaced with a heavier concrete one.
2.  We needed to hire people to perform debris clean-up to reopen the clinic.
3.  The clinic's water pump burned out and had to be replaced.
4.  The water pressure tank and bag need to be replaced as they are rusted through.
5.  All 5 of the outside ceiling fans were destroyed during the hurricane and need to be replaced.

Additionally, due to the power being off for an extended period of time , a large quantity of medicines were ruined and needed to be replaced.

How you can help

You can help by making a direct donation or by participating in our contest to guess the breed of "Teddy" one of our rescued animals.

Teddy's story

Teddy was found living on the beach with his other 2 littermates two years ago.  The puppies had been abandoned and it appeared that Teddy had been brutally mistreated, as he had an area on his back where the hair had been burned off, possibly with boiling water.  The pups were rescued and brought to Animalandia.

My husband and I adopted Teddy two years ago and he has grown into a wonderful, loving dog.  Every time we would take Teddy for a walk in town, people would ask us "What breed is he?"  We would always reply "We don't know" or "He is a Baja special."  Recently we decided to end the speculation and ordered the Wisdom DNA test.  The test has been submitted to the lab and the results should be available soon.  Here is a link to the breeds that they test for:  http://www.wisdompanel.com/breeds/

How the contest will work

For each $10 donation,  you can provide a guess of up to 3 breeds.  Please use the comment section to provide your guesses.  At the close of the contest the winner will receive the lesser of $500 or 10% of the total contest donations and an Animalandia T shirt.  If there is more than one winner, the prize will be split between them.   The contest will remain open until November 30, or may be extended until the final lab results are received.   Donations received outside of the contest will not be included in the calculation of the prize.

Teddy's stats

Weight:   45 lbs
Height to shoulder: 24"
Length:  27"

Teddy's coat is long haired and redish.
Special traits:  He is very agile and is a very fast runner.  When he plays he tends to "prance".  He is very loyal  and a good protector.   He is quite shy, but this may be due to the abuse he suffered.
