Help Lilly come home!

Hi there! We are Drew and Blue of Divine Creatures Pet Services in Seattle Washington, a small pet care business that offers dog walking, pet sitting, and express mobile grooming services. In the beginning of this year we assumed care for an extremely neglected 15 year old Chihuahua. When we first began caring for her, she was visibly underweight, dehydrated, and her ears, back, and tail were covered in open sores. Her previous owners agreed to give us ownership of her after admitting that they haven't taken her to a vet because she's old and they expected her to pass away soon. The only food that she was offered was Meow Mix dry cat food. We got her veterinary care, licensed, and within 10 days of her being in our care she went from the picture on your left to the picture on your right. We started feeding her appropriate food and supplements to address her skin and joint issues. Lilly's energy improved and within a couple of weeks she was matching the energy of our other 15 year old Chihuahua as well as expressing interest in toys and learning how to play. She was thriving with us and it was clear that she had a lot of life left in her. Seeing her go from being only able to walk a few feet and having to lay down, to playing and enthusiastically eating was equally amazing and heartbreaking.

After having her for well over a month, we made what turned out to be a horrible mistake and let her visit with her previous owners who then refused to give her back.

Lilly needs surgery to repair her oral nasal fistula as well as follow up care concerning her skin and joints due to the neglect that she suffered from her previous owners. We have been working with the Seattle Police Department and Animal Control but unfortunately, neither one can help us get her back. Our only other option is to retain a lawyer to help us get custody of Lilly. One of the local pet rescues that we work with referred us to Adam Karp an attorney in Bellingham, who graciously offered to represent us at half his rate.
We are more than willing and able to provide Lilly with the medical care that she needs to spend her remaining time here comfortable and loved. However, the additional cost of legal representation could make it difficult for us to accommodate Lilly's medical needs as well. If you are able to donate to Lilly's legal representation and have a companion animal and live in the Seattle area, I am more than happy to provide any express grooming services free of charge as a thank you for your help.
