Ziva's Medical Fund for her Cancer

Hi Everyone, My name is John A. Pascucci and my baby is a five year old Rhodesian Ridgeback named Ziva. She is my heart and soul and the best parts of me. Long story short Ziva adopted me in 2009 when she was 8 weeks old and I was recovering from my first back surgery. She quickly became my best friend and my reason to push harder and harder every day to get healthy. When I had my second major back surgery in Aug. of 2010 she was once again my rock and the best therapy and friend I could ask for. We formed a bond during this time that anyone will attest to that knows us is unbreakable.
On the snowy and wintery Christmas Eve night of 2010 when she was only 16 months old she got off the couch looked at me and passed out cold. I was still in a body cast and lived in a 20 step walkup. I couldn't reach down to put on shoes or anything but managed to get Ziva in my arms and balance her with my cane and get her down the stairs and into my truck below. We, by the grace of God, managed to get to the Yonkers Animal Hospital where they took excellent care of her. It turns out she suffered a major growth spurt and has a hypo-tyroid. She takes two pills a day since that scare and I thought that would be the biggest scare I would ever have with her.
During my recovery I wrote a science fiction book with Ziva as the star. She goes on an incredible adventure with her human Jethro. It was picked up and published by Tate Publishing in 2013 and is called Jethro Guardian Angel. It is meant to be a series with the next book Even Heroes Weep hopefully coming out the middle to end of next year. 
On Saturday November 1st, I received the worst news possible from Ziva's doctor and my friend at Pine Lakes Animal Hospital Dr. Andrea Kaser. It was almost a certainty that Ziva has bone cancer in her front right leg. My life stood still, my heart ripped from my chest and I couldn't stop crying. I spent the next 48 hours holding her crying begging my family and friends for help, support, and prayers. A prayer page was started for us on Facebook which I encourage everyone to visit. It's called, Prayers and positive healing for John and Ziva. On Monday Dr. Andrea saw her again and ran all the tests she possibly could. The outcome was decided on Tuesday that amputating her leg was the only way to stop the spread and give Ziva a chance at a decent life. On Wed. we went to see Dr. Mackenzie at (AVS) Advanced Veterinary Specialists in Daytona Beach. After giving Ziva a check-up and exam we consulted and Ziva was scheduled for surgery the next day Thurs. Nov. 6th at 8:00 am to have her front right leg amputated. Reality kicked in quickly and I tried to stay strong for Ziva but was falling apart at the seams. We had a great night together and she had the surgery the next morning. I stayed with her the whole time never ever leaving the hospital. I ended up getting a little room to stay with her and literally be with her all night. The people at AVS during the day and the emergency hospital night crew went above and beyond for my baby and me. Setting us up make shift beds and all. They let us leave on Fri. and Ziva is slowly on the road to what we all have Faith will be the fullest recovery possible. It's only been 72 hours since surgery but she has already taken a few steps and is looking good.
Angie her fairy God mother and nurse from Pine Lakes Animal Hospital has made daily house calls to change her bandages and make sure she is doing as well as possible. Angie knitted Ziva a beautiful cancer scarf with an Angel a cancer ribbon and the word hope on it. Ziva wears it every wear since she received it.
Angie has also knitted incredible beanie hats and Christmas ornaments to give away as thank you's for  donations over $45.00. I will be offering signed copies of Jethro with Zivas paw print stamp and a special thank you from her to you for any donations over $45.00. I will be updating this with more thank you's for your donations as I receive them. Please help me help my baby. The pre-bills, the surgery, and the aftercare are really piling up the bills. I will do whatever it takes for my babies but could really use the help towards her expenses especially with chemo and therapy still to come.
Money donated and not used towards Ziva or her medical expenses or future medical expenses will be donated to where I volunteer at the Blue Moon Cat Sanctuary Palm Coast and towards the research for animal cancer.
