Taking Off - Chile 2015!

Donation protected

Greetings!

You are probably here because you saw my video; thanks for checking it out! Everyone featured in the video had undergone 40+ hour weeks for a span of three months training for our syncronized swimming routine, but unfortunately that didn't make the final edit. (Just kidding!)

Because you saw the video, I am sure you are aware of two things:
1.) I have no rhythm or hopes of being on Broadway, ever. Haha!
But more importantly,
2.) I am returning to CHILE!!!

Why Chile?
Well, it all started back in 2012. I was studying for a degree in Christian missions at University; every missions student is required to do an internship and highly encouraged to fulfill said requirement outside of the States. With some friends in New Zealand and Australia and knowing a little bit about the churched situation in that area of the world, there was not really a question as to where I would be going. But both of those plans totally fell through...
After a consultation with my advisor, she suggested a specific place and people in Chile whom she had previously worked with and said my Spanish (a class I was taking at the time) would prove quite useful.
God was orchestrating a wonderful growing experience in a country not my own among people I had never met through a language I did not understand. The internship during the summer of 2013 ended with an invitation to someday return and work as a missionary there in the future.

Someday is now. As of the first week of February 2015, I will be "Taking Off" to Chile for two years. Lautaro will be the town of residence for the duration of my stay.

What will Rachel be doing while she is there?
Several things:
-Translating, organizing, and working with the 8-9 annual U.S. short-term mission teams headed to Lautaro to help with the building and construction of a Christian school. They are building this school to raise and equip Chilean and Mapuche leaders to serve Christ and others in their community and around the world!
-Working alongside other team mates and leaders in the church there to start up an indigenous Chilean mission team. The desire is to send them to serve somewhere in South America in 2015 and build up to sending a mission group to Africa or the Muslim world by 2018. Truly exciting!
-Collaborating with the youth leaders in organizing events and fellowshipping with the youth in an effort to see them grow and mature into godly servant leaders.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about this mission trip or a breakdown of funds, please contact me at anytime.
Please prayerfully consider partnering with me - whether in a one-time gift, monthly support, or daily prayer.

In Christ,
Rachel Greenwood
