New Kicks for Kids

Hello Everyone! I am excited to share the story behind New Kicks for Kids and our partnership with Knuth Family Foundation on this project, who share a similar vision, as it is their mission to help give back to kids/athletes in SE Michigan.  As a professional athlete and former collegiate athlete, I have always been blessed with new running shoes as I needed them for training. I didn’t have to wonder when I would get another pair or how I would afford them. I also spent a number of years coaching at the collegiate level and it was here that my eyes were re-opened to the number of kids who come from families that were unable to afford a new quality pair of shoes for their son/daughter when they needed them, including personally coaching an athlete who's high school coach purchased a pair of shoes for them because they couldn't afford them. This helped spark this project along with our desire to help more kids in similar situations receive new shoes.

Thus in an effort to come together as community to give back to our community, New Kicks for Kids was created. Providing local kids who do not have the means to purchase new shoe, with new shoes.

Our goal is to distribute at least 100 NEW pairs of athletic shoes to kids in the local area.

Just a $50 donation= 1 new pair of shoes.

Please know that every little bit helps move this vision and project forward to help families and kids in our community. As an athlete or a parent, we know that something simple like having new athletic shoes is something we all get excited about wearing and can truly make difference in these kids’ lives. This encourages more play for kids, whether in gym class, a sport, or just out the front door. Our goal is to bring these kids joy and show them they are loved by the community around them. There are many kids in our own community that are going to school with holes in their shoes because they can't afford a new pair. We can make a difference in the lives of these families by giving them something they cannot easily access.

Our timeline is to raise all funds by June 22nd.  Kids for the shoes will be nominated by teachers/coaches at their schools. From the nominations a committee will select the recipients of the shoes by July 31st and finally all shoes will be given out to kids by mid-August 2019 or as kids return to school in the fall.

Thank you so much for seeing the difference this can make in our community and for your support in this project. Please continue to share this to help us reach and exceed our goal to help more kids and families. Thank you for your passion to help impact kids in our community with us, you are ALL part of this project and WE can not do this without your SUPPORT. Thank you again.
