My family and I are being forced to move. My landlord has refused to fix the many problems on the house we are currently renting. An extremely leaky roof, has left sheet-rock loose, black mold in the attic, wiring problems due to the leaks, plus many other structural things. He told me he would try to have someone look at these but so far hasn’t yet. My son has severe mental health issues and is having a very hard time understanding what is happening. He is being overwhelmed by it all. The stress of this has increased his anxiety and bipolar health issues. My son, his girlfriend, my elderly mother and my health are all being affected by not only the deteriorating house but the stress of having to move. We are currently living on a combined disability for me and retirement income for my mom so it is hard to save for an upcoming move and still keep up with the monthly bills (electricity, water, heat, etc.). My son and his girlfriend are not getting any money because of their combined health issues. We have lived in the house for over 11 years and the house has needed these repairs for over 10 years. In all those years the rent has only been late once. The landlord stated that due to the costs of fixing the very needed repairs there would definitely be an increase in the rent by triple. Thanks to Governor Inslee’s block on evictions, we have until January 1, 2021 to get moved. We are asking for money to help cover first, last, deposits, and moving costs. With our health issues we cannot physically do this move by ourselves.
