Fundraiser for Tonantzin Chocolate Shop Startup

We are Antonia and Fernando. We founded our family business, Tonantzin Chocolate, 5 years ago. We make stone ground raw organic chocolate made from raw cacao and superfoods. Since our origins we have popped up in numerous stores around Victoria, to the point where we now feel we are ready to move our commercial kitchen from our family home to the outside world and be more accessible to the public. 


It has been our vision to continue expanding the business with the intention of being able to support families in Mexico, where the cacao we use in our chocolate comes from. We see this shop opening as a beautiful opportunity for the community and our customers to come together and co-create this vision.

When we started this campaign, we originally wanted to apply for a shop rental on Warburton highway in Wesburn, where we planned on moving our kitchen as well as having a shop front available to the public. However, we have recently had some game changing health issues arise in out family, and the vision has shifted to having an publically accessable chocolate factory in a more community focused setting. This is still where people can come and see how the Chocolate is made, drink some of our famous Aztec hot chocolate and be a part of the broader collective vision of Tonantzin, meaning Sacred Mother Earth. Bringing chocolate back to its sacred origins as a healthy superfood that creates gratitude in your heart.

We see this shop and next stage of expansion as a foundation for working towards our long term goals - creating lines of chocolate to raise awareness and funds for wilderness and habitat areas as well as forming the connection with First Nations People.

We are aiming to raise $10,000 to go towards our shop startup. We need things such as paint, signage, equipment, lighting as well as commissioning for local artists to be a part of creating a warm welcoming atmosphere for all to enjoy. So that when you walk in the door you feel the embrace of Mother Earth and the Spirit of Cacao that we aim to bring through with the making of our chocolate.
