Brain Tumor Emergency Surgery

Dear friends, family, and community,
Last month, many of you helped a friend of mine leave a domestic violence situation, by donating toward groceries and medical expenses. I am so, so grateful.
This same friend has now been told by their doctor that the brain tumor that they have been treating with chemotherapy has grown. They are at risk of permanent vision loss if the tumor is not removed within the next two weeks. They are temporarily uninsured, because previous coverage was through their former partner.
Penn Medicine is offering them pro bono surgery if they can cover the cost of screenings and diagnostic imaging up front. We are trying to raise $4000 to cover those costs, so that they can have surgery on July 8th.
My friend has applied for Medicaid, but a social worker assisting them believes that, given the backlog in social service systems, their application could take weeks or months to go through.
It's an extremely challenging time to ask people for financial support, and if you're not in a position to give, that is completely understandable. If you are able to give something, any amount is deeply appreciated.
