Senior year in the midst of a global pandemic has looked a lot different than expected. My original goal of creating a live performance has shifted like many of our plans and aspirations this past year. However, I will not allow the pandemic to hinder the quality of the product that I am capable of. I decided to pour my whole heart into creating this film that is a culmination of both of my majors: Dance and Gender Studies.
I began creating this project in the summer of 2020. I received the Summer Undergraduate Research Program Grant in order to start the work that would inspire the creation of this film. I was able to sit down (over Zoom) with over 30 working dance artists from all across the US and globally. We had meaningful conversations regarding race, gender, and the power dynamics within the dance world. These conversations have inspired my choreography and direction for this film.
The goal of this film is to spark a conversation around gender. I aim to share my own experiences of how gender has shaped my experience of dance as well as share valuable lessons and insights that I got from speaking with inspiring dancers last summer.

A Message From Gwyn:
I would like to thank everyone who has made this project possible. I would not be here if it were not for my supportive family, friends, and the LMU community. I would also like to thank each person that made time out of their day to meet with me and discuss important issues in the dance world. Your words have inspired me to be a better person and create art that is meaningful to me and my story. Whether you donate or not I am excited to make this project and share it with all of you and appreciate your time.
