Laptop for Julia

My long-time friend, Julia, is in need of a new laptop to keep her connected with friends and family around the country. Her computer recently broke, depriving her of what is ever too often her only connection to people outside her home, education, and information on her condition.

She is typically only able to leave her home for doctor's appointments. Her medical bills have imposed a significant financial burden on her family, making a replacement computer out of reach.

As someone who has been fighting a long battle with many illnesses which have caused her GI tract to stop working, she is wheelchair confined. She has been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction, and Mitochondrial Disease, which have lead to complete intestinal failure. She is on IV nutrition through a central line. There is no treatment for her case at this point, so the best she and her family can do is manage her pain.  

It goes without saying that this is an absolutely incredible burden for anyone, especially a  19 year-old, to bear. Despite her circumstances, Julia is incredibly resilient, optimistic, and is one of the wisest people I know. 

I've known Julia since she was 10 when I taught her horseback riding lessons in Oakland. I remember her overcoming her fears and gaining confidence riding a horse 15 times her size, and the utter joy that brought her. Despite all she has been through, she has always held onto her absolute passion for life and ability to be an amazing friend. 

Any contribution would really help! Any amount over the cost of the computer, will be used for her medical bills.
