JaMelle's Stomp Out Cancer Fund

Single Mom. Daughter. Sister. Grandmother. Aunt. Friend.

For a couple of weeks JaMelle Holmes, 51, had a nagging cough.  The cough was persistent and no matter what wouldn't go away.  After a couple trips to the doctor they discovered fluid in her lungs. After undergoing surgery to drain the fluid and biopsy a mass, she received some bad news.

On August 2nd, 2013 JaMelle was diagnosed with Stage IV adenocarcinoma a Non-small cell lung cancer.  In the months following her diagnosis she responded well to her treatment and achieved nearly 90% remission at one point. But in September of this year she found out the cancer stopped responding to the treatment and had spread into her bones, liver, and brain. She is currently undergoing treatment to hopefully shrink several tumors on her brain. The tumors have diminished her motor skills, ability to speak, loss of some vision and affected her short-term memory. JaMelle is unable to care for herself independently and requires in-home care to help with the basic needs we all take for granted. This ultimately has left her completely unable to return to work.

It is important to know that since her diagnosis she has fought and continues to fight with the aid and support of her family and friends and most importantly her 83 year old mother and son a proud new father and husband. JaMelle is always smiling and visiting with her loved ones no matter what kind of day she’s had.  She is truly a soldier. Before her sickness she was very vibrant and active. She loved cooking; being with family and friends and loved being out enjoying all life had to offer. She was always there for anyone who asked.

Now she needs our help.  We are raising money to help her family with her medical expenses, medication cost, and in-home health care. While we understand that everyone’s situation is different every little bit helps from $5 and up nothing is too small. We believe in prayer and miracles and we want her around to see her new grand baby grow up into a beautiful woman. Yes Cancer sucks, but Jamelle is fighting it and we know she will win! Thank you for your support, prayers, donations and well wishes! God Bless all of you!
