Baby Booties Diaper Bank

Donation protected
Hello, My name is Helen Hutton. I am starting this campaign in hopes to gain funds for a non-profit my friend and I started, Baby Booties Diaper Bank. Being a mother of twins, I know the stress of running out of diapers. Most childcare facilities will not accept children who wear cloth diapers. Working families that are above the poverty line, but below middle class standards, struggle to provide diapers for their children. Baby Booties collects and distributes diapers to families in need.
Diaper need is real. Diapers are expensive, averaging around $120 a month or $1440 a year for one child. Federal assistance programs, such as SNAP (formerly called food stamps) and WIC, do not cover diapers. Parents are forced to make hard decisions with limited resources.  Disposable diapers are typically a requirement of most childcare centers, making them a necessity for working parents.  Lack of washing facilities compounds the issue.
Based on 2012 US Census Bureau data, we estimate that nearly 5,000 babies and toddlers are in a diaper need situation in Collin County.
-50% of all single mother households live below the poverty line.
-1 in 3 families in America struggles to afford diapers for their children.
-34% of families are forced to cut back on basics such as food, utilities or child care in order to purchase diapers for their child.
-22% of all children under five years of age in the United States live in poverty.

Our goal is $12,000. Having $1,000 a month will let us meet the needs of others when donations fall short. As our non-profit grows, so does the demand for diapers. The money raised will go towards diapers and wipes for babies in my local community of McKinney, TX.

I am hoping to raise the funds by January 1, 2016.

These children are the future generation. We need to keep them safe and healthy.

Even a donation as small as $5 (or the cost of a Grande Mocha at your favorite coffee shop) can diaper a baby for a few days. Knowing you have helped a baby is a great feeling. Please consider donating this giving season to a anstounding cause.  We are so thankful for anything you may be able to donate.
