Guzman Reynoso Family Lose Everything in Fire

Hi, my name is Marisol Rodriguez; I'm the executive director at RENEW Life Center, a small non-profit in Paterson, NJ.

I'm raising funds for Sindy Guzman, her partner Rigoberto Reynoso, their six children (4 teenagers, a 2-year-old, and a 10-month-old), and Sindy's mother, who was living with them. The family was displaced due to a fire that swept through their home on Friday, July 22, 2022. Thank God no one was hurt; however, the house was severely damaged, and all the contents of the house were lost. The family was left with only the clothes they had on. Sindy and Rigoberto have homeowners insurance; however, we know they will encounter out-of-pocket expenses in the thousands of dollars because of the large size of their family. The donations raised will be used for insurance deductibles, temporary housing, clothing, and other needs they now face.

I met Sindy when she started attending our non-profit's educational workshops and mentoring program to obtain meaningful employment. She said she wanted to "improve the quality of life for her family and be a role model to her children." Sindy and Rigoberto were proud to make their dream come true and purchased this house for their family just one year ago. To add further stability to their family life, they had planned to get married this September.

Supporting Sindy and her family through this horrific ordeal is important to my organization and me because we were consistently impressed by the dedication and hard work Sindy put into participating in our workshops. We find this devasting loss especially heartbreaking because we are proud of the progress Sindy and Rigoberto have made to obtain the American dream and create a stable and safe home for their family.
