Many of you have been following my health saga for quite some time now, requesting updates and offering prayers. I am sincerely grateful for all the encouragement and love I have received thus far. I am writing this to provide a follow-up and to ask for a particular kind of continued support. Thank you for taking the time to read and prayerfully consider:
As you may know, starting in July of last year, I had my yearly check-up with a new doctor to whom I explained all the problems I’ve experienced for the last several years. Upon discovering odd fluctuations in my blood pressure, he referred me to a cardiologist who gave me a CT scan and MRI. While both scans thankfully revealed that my heart was healthy, a severe hiatal hernia was found. This “paraesophageal hernia” means my stomach is on the wrong side of my diaphragm, flipped 180 degrees. In my consequent surgical consultation, the surgeon discussed what I’d need done in the near future. Insisting that it cannot wait, he told me that I need to have a laparoscopic surgery to reposition my stomach below my diaphragm, holding it in place. As a fairly major operation, this will require a 4-6 week recovery period. If I do not do the surgery soon, it is predicted that my hernia will become life-threatening in only 10-15 years. I am confident that this surgery will resolve the debilitating pain, indigestion, anxiety and blood-pressure issues I have lived with for so long, tremendously altering my quality of life!
The significant obstacle standing in my way to pursing a normal, healthy life for the first time in years is my high deductible. In total, this surgery will cost me $5,700, where $3,150 is my deductible alone! I am asking for you to prayerfully consider a small donation, perhaps about $25-50 (though even $10 would help!) I would be extraordinarily grateful to you for your kindness and generosity; it would change my life (and that of my family’s!)
