Gutierrez Family Fire Recovery

My name is Lindsey Gutierrez and on August 11th at 12:43am I woke up to noises outside my house in La Center, WA. As I went into the bathroom to look through the window all I could see was orange. I yelled to Alex that I thought the house was on fire. From there everything happened so fast. Alex went downstairs to see if he could get water to the fire but couldn't. The back deck and side of the house was fully engulfed. I woke the kids up and was running down the stairs to get out of the house. The smoke detectors went off and we inhaled smoke on our way out. Sophia followed me but Evan was so scared that he ran back to his room. Alex ran up the stairs to find Evan hiding and had to pick him up and carry him out. Praises to God that we all got out safe.
I called 911 and they sent the firefighters from 3 towns to fight the fire for 3 hours. The fire got into the roof and attic and spread though the whole house causing damage everywhere. We lost everything upstairs including all our clothes, beds, toiletries and the kids toys.
Yesterday (8/20) we were told the only structural item that wont need to be replaced is the downstairs toilet. Other than that the house will be ripped down to the studs and we will rebuild from there.
Losing everything is very sobering. What matters most is that our family is safe. We would ask that our friends and family continue to pray for us during this time of transition. Especially for Evan who is going to start kindergarten in the next couple weeks.
Many people such as friend, co-workers, and family hear this story and they want to help. This is the platform I was told to use to make it easy to help. We will use whatever money is raised to replace needed items such as bedding, towels, clothes, shoes, school supplies, personal hygiene products and other items that we need to purchase before the insurance pays begins to pay us for our belonging.
