Gus, my six-year old black lab and certified therapy dog, has had his fair share of scrapes and bruises over the years. In the last few months, however, he has been dealing with a life-threatening infection. A few months ago, he was diagnosed with a severe aspergillosis fungal infection in his nose. What makes this so dangerous is that, if left untreated, it will make its way to his brain and kill him. We have taken him to veterinary specialists and he has been through three surgeries to scrape out the fungal plaques and treat the infected area with anti-fungl solutions. Unfortunately, this particular fungus seems persistent and resistent to this treatment, and his symptoms have returned. His symptoms include extreme fatigue and severe hemorraging nose bleeds. We have spent more than $ 8,300 on his surgeries and medical treatments and we just don't have any more to spend. The doctors would like to treat him one more time with a different more specialized anti-fungal treatment as well as support him with homeopathic interventions. The cost of this is $2,500. Gus is only six years old, and we feel that we must try everything we can. There are dogs who have been cured of the fungal infection on the fourth surgery. Any little bit helps us to reach our goal of one more surgery and homeopathic care. Thanks so much for reading.
