Help Needed To Care For A Child

Gus and Dawn have had a 17 year old living with them for 6 months. Initially they thought it would be short term; maybe 6 weeks. It now looks as though it will be permanent. She has been abandoned by both of her parents. She is a GREAT kid. She gets good grades, participates in extra curriculars, and works 25 hours a week. Gus and Dawn love her very much, so they taken her in as one of our own in EVERY way!
Gus and Dawn have been trying obtain her health insurance information. They need to get her new glasses and THERAPY for the issues she is having from being abandoned by her parents. They havent had any luck! There has been absolutely no communication from her father and her mother dropped out of sight after a couple of months. The parents have not provided any money for food, clothing, school supplies, tolietries, etc.
She is a senior and now needs money for student dues, field trips, classroom fees, etc.
They have reached out to their area DFACS for help but were turned away. They were told that at this point this child is "too old".
They are in the process of trying to locate a therapist that will help this poor girl face the emotional trauma that none of us can fathom. Weekly sessions can be expensive but are truly necessary.
Her eye prescription is in desperate need of updating. She needs a thorough exam and new glasses to help her with school and every day life.
Any medical necessities: well checks are costly and an emergency room visit would be financially staggering.
The funds would not only cover her present needs but also future care as well.
God has called upon Gus and Dawn to give this child a loving, supportive home and they are doing just that. They are now her mom and dad.
This wonderful, loving, Christian couple needs our help in caring for this precious child. Any amount will be a wonderful gift.
