Trade in Guns for Bikes

According to the National Center for Injury Prevention & Control, in 2010, guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour, a number that continues to grow each year.

The "More Bikes Less Guns" community project is aimed at reducing gun possession within our local community, by providing a bicycle for every gun turned into the City of Miami.

On May 30, 2015 from 9am to 3pm, at the Museum Club Tower, located on 1598 NE 1st Ave., Miami, FL 33132.  We will be hosting a joint event with the City of Miami Police Department, in a gun buyback initiative.  In a no questions asked event, anyone can turn in a gun and be rewarded for their efforts.

In preparation for our first guns for bikes exchange event, we have partnered with the City of Miami Police Department to administer proper gun disposal.  In addition to having the backing of the Chief of Miami Police, Rodolfo Llanes, we need your support to reach our goal of replacing as many guns on the streets with bikes.

We are hoping to host another successful gun buyback program that has been held previously in the City of Miami (Residents Trade Guns for Groceries).  This time we will need your help, citizens of Miami, we are hoping to raise as much money as possible to fund this event.  While we already have generous donors that are allowing us to use their location to host the event, including pizza and gifts, this event will not be possible unless we hit our aggressive goal of $4,000.

As you can see in our letter below, we do indeed have the backing of the City of Miami Police Department.  But with the power of a collective community, we can join forces and help the police in their innovative programs to take guns off the streets in an effort to reduce violence.

The power of crowdfunding will help us reach our goal.  No matter how small the donation $1, $5, $10, each monetary gift will help get your voice heard.  If anyone is interested in company donations, we are offering a donation level sponsorship (see below) - bronze, silver, gold, platinum:
