Guillermo & Family need your help

Hello everyone,

My name is Michael Vargas and I am speaking on behalf of my Grandfather and my Mom. On September 2nd, 2017 my grandfather underwent a double bypass surgey in order to clear the clogged arteries he had been suffering from for awhile. He was nervous of course as anyone would be and we assured him that everything was going to be okay and that we'd joke about it all the following day while he was in recovery. Unfortunately, everything did not go well. My grandfather suffered from a globl stroke during the surgery that the doctors were unable to detect until after the fact when he wouldn't wake up in recovery. When he finally woke up he was unable to speak, move, and he didn't even recognize who we were. Our hearts were shattered into a million pieces.

Currently, my Mom had to quit her job in order to care of my Grandfather. She has no form of income as the State has not provided assistance for taking care of my Grandfather. She has been watching him and caring for him endlessly since he was admitted and her savings and retirement funds have completely dwindled in order to keep the bills paid.  My family and I have tried our best to help with as much money as we possibly can but it just isn't enough. We are at a point where we are at risk of possibily losing our home, where my grandfather currently resides. This is honestly my last resort, I have tried every possible thing I can to help my family.

I am setting the goal so high because my mom is physically and mentally exhausted. The constant lifting and waking up every other hour to check on my grandfather is taking a toll on her. We want to use these funds to hire a nurse that is able to come in and relieve some of the stress my mom has been facing every day for months, but affording a nurse is expensive. The funds donated will also go to buying supplies that are needed to take care of my grandfather and also ensure that we are able to take care of him in peace and not in fear that we might not be able to continue caring for him in our home.

My grandfather was a very hard working and honorable man. He came to the United States from Colombia in 1986 and started working to provide for his family. He obtained citizenship and brought my Mom to the states in 1991. He always looked out for all of us. He was my father figure and raised me to be the man that I am today. He'd laugh at the corniest of jokes and screamed at the TV for every Barcelona game when they weren't winning.  He was a man of faith, and always believed that God would protect all of us. He was all of our best friend.

Thank you for your time to read this, and thank you for any contribution you are able to give, and I ask if you can possibly share this among your family and peers. My family and I will greatly appreciate any help given.

God Bless.
