Nuestro querido amigo, Felipe Loma, fué recientemente diagnosticado con el síndrome de Guillain-Barré, una condición poco común en la que el sistema inmunológico ataca parte del sistema nervioso periférico.

Después de casi un mes en cuidados intensivos, Felipe está de vuelta en casa, sin embargo, aún no puede valerse por sí mismo. Su esposa tuvo que renunciar a su trabajo, para poder cuidarlo tiempo completo. 

Debido a que esta condición lo ha dejado temporalmente paralizado, estamos tratando de juntar donaciones para comprarle equipo médico que le ayude con las tareas más simples, que para él no es posible hacer; como ir al baño o bañarse. Sin este aparato, Alheida no tiene forma de llevarlo al baño, mas que arrastrarlo.

Felipe también necesita terapia física continua, y posiblemente terapia del habla, para ayudarle a recuperar el control de sus extremidades y del habla (por el momento el depende completamente de una silla de ruedas). Su familia no puede pagar su terapia física, así que cualquier ayuda será agradecida.

El dinero que se recaude se utilizará para cubrir los gastos médicos (casi un mes en cuidados intensivos), así como para ayuda adicional para la familia. Desafortunadamente, ellos no cuentan con seguro médico, y ambos son la fuente principal de ingresos para la familia. Actualmente, su hijo de 21 años es la única fuente de ingresos.

Our dear friend, Felipe Loma, was recently diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare condition in which the immune system attacks the nerves. 
 
After almost a month in intensive care, he is back home, but unable to care for himself. Currently, his wife is home full time, and unable to work while she takes care of him.

Since this condition has left him temporarily paralyzed, we are trying to raise funds to help him during this lengthy recovery process. We are trying to help them purchase a "Shower Buddy" shower transfer system. This device will make simple tasks, such as taking him to the bathroom, or giving him a bath, easier for them. Without this device, Felipe's wife has to drag him into the tub.

Felipe will also need continuous physical therapy to help him regain control of his extremities (he is currently wheelchair bound). His family cannot afford his physical therapy, so any help will be greatly appreciated. 

Additional money raised will go towards covering medical bills, and additional assistance for his family. He unfortunately does not have health insurance, and him and his wife are the main source of income for the family (their 21 year old is the only one working at the moment).
