Medical Mission Trip to Guatemala

I've been accepted to be a delegate of the 2018 Guatemala International Medical and Solidarity Mission organized by the Fundacion Amancio Samual Villatoro. FASV is a foundation that organizes medical missions in Guatemala that aim to serve communities facing large gaps in healthcare. This trip brings skilled healthcare providers and medical supplies from the US to rural parts of Guatemala with the intended goal of serving over 1,500 individuals who have difficulty accessing basic medical care. We'll work in pop-up style clinics in two towns on beautiful Lake Atitlan (Sololá and Santiago Atitlan). The kind of care provided by the medical mission ranges broadly and includes general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, dentistry, and wound care.
As a current nursing student this trip will be a unique and wonderful opportunity for me to practice my skills as a care provider and respectfully provide care to the medically underserved in these towns. I hope that you can help me reach my financial goal so that I can participate on this trip and be a part of making a difference to the communities we will work with.
The organization asks that we fundraise for the $800 participation fee that will cover donations for medicines and medical supplies, lodging, food, ground transport, translators, educational tour guide, room and board, and all other expenses to be incurred during the trip. I am also asking for support on the airfare, which is $600 round trip, $100 in personal expenses such as required vaccines for myself and special equipment for the mission, and $300 in case of emergency or unforeseeable expense. Any funds not used will be donated after the mission towards medicines and medical supplies.
