The holiday season is a time of wonder and excitement when memories are made, and love is shared. Yet, for so many children in the foster care system, it is a reminder that they have been removed from everything they’ve ever known including their parents, siblings and familiar environments. Most children come into care with only the clothing on their backs and a garbage bag containing a few personal belongings. While the average child is looking forward to winter festivities, children in foster care are faced with the realization that they will not be “home for the holidays,” or with their biological family members.

In an effort to provide a joyous Christmas season for these special children and their foster families, we invite you join our Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays sponsorship program. As a sponsor, you can help a child in foster care have a truly Merry Christmas by donating the gifts they have their hearts set on or practical items that will make their transition easier. In collaboration with local community organizations, Guardians of Love will collect food, toys, clothing, gift cards and monetary donations to give to a child or family in need. And while the current social distancing measures in California may prevent us from hosting our traditional holiday events this year; your generous contribution can help us provide our kids with access to online as well as "contactless" drive-thru Christmas activities.

We understand that a gift does not replace the loss a child is struggling with, but gifts and special moments such as seeing Santa, opening up brightly wrapped presents on Christmas morning, and loving interactions within the foster home absolutely helps children and youth feel special and not forgotten.
