Guardian Tutoring Classroom Oakland

At the heart of Guardian’s mission is the idea that free training in martial arts can serve as powerful after school programming, creating positive communities filled with healthy habits.

The mission is working.   

In roughly 2 years, we now have over 150 youth students and 190 adult members that are changing their lives through finding confidence,  self-dicipline, and of course physical improvements.  

It has quickly become clear that we have a tremendous opportunity to offer services that go above and beyond our core boxing and jiu-jitsu programming. We’ve often noticed that, after training, our students occupy the perfect state of mind to focus on academics. Once they’ve disposed of their physical energy through training, they’re better able to focus, receive tutoring, and complete their homework.

Guardian is fortunate to have a dedicated group of qualified volunteers just waiting for the opportunity to sharpen these young minds and better prepare them for adulthood. Those include PHD math students from UC Berkeley, local teachers, computer engineers and more. Now we need the space to make it a reality.


The money donated through this campaign will go specifically to building out our new classroom.    Specifically we will be purchasing:

Desks
Computers
Computer Software (Illustrator, SketchUp, Office, etc)
AV system 
Creative Boards 

We are currently working with the city of Oakland’s planning department for approval of our expansion plans. As soon as we’re given the go-ahead, we’ll proceed straight from planning to construction. In order to make this a reality, it’s important, then, that we raise these funds as quickly as possible.

Many of our kids do not have an ideal learning environment to return home to after-school. We can provide that for them at our new Guardian location. In today’s digitally connected world filled with amazing content, these kids can truly learn anything that they are passionate about pursuing.
