Now, It has been almost a year that I have not been able to hear. My cochlear implant device doesn't work anymore. It is 8 years old and I'm supposed to get a new one every 7-10 years.
My insurance's policy claimed that they would cover 90% and I would pay 10%. They declined my claim twice due to the fact that insurance don't view a cochlear implant device as a 'necessity'. They prefer to cover hearing aids. It's controversial because cochlear implant is like a "Porsche" version of hearing aids so there aren't enough sufficient resources to back it up or change 'laws' to support.
I've decided to make this GoFundMe to reach $10,000 goal to cover an entire set (devices, rechargable batteries, charger, and remote to diagnosis.)
I would be forever greateful to be able to hear again and get my identity back.
