Justin's Cancer Treatment Fund

My name is Justin Bernard. On October 27, 2017 I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and have been on medical leave from work since that day. Immediate surgeries and follow up chemotherapy have prevented me from getting back to work. The support from friends and family we have received has been amazing and it pains me to have to ask for more. We have been getting by due to that support along with disability benefits and the emergency fund we had set aside, but cancer was not something we were prepared for. The medical bills are starting to pile up and reality has struck that the emergency fund and disability benefits can help get us through our day to day expenses, but are disappearing quickly when adding medical bills to the mix. I am currently less than halfway through my treatment and have already amassed $35,663 in medical costs. Thankfully, some of these costs have been offset by insurance. As the sole source of income for a family of four (my wife is unable to go back to work as she is the primary caregiver for me and our two daughters - ages 5 & 3), I’ve stretched our current funds and income about as far as they can go. I’ve set a goal of $7,300 to help cover some of the medical bills because I do not expect others to cover everything for us to maintain the lifestyle we are used to. I plan to beat this disease and get back to work ASAP to bust my butt to get my family back on track to the aspirations we had before my diagnosis.
