I am very EXCITED to say that I will be going back to Africa this summer for a 2 week trip! My last trip to Africa was in 2015 when I spent 10 days in South Sudan taking the gospel of Jesus to many villages. This trip truly changed my life and gave me a PASSION for the people of Africa! This July, I will be spending the majority of my time in Kamuli, Uganda with a ministry that is dear to my heart called THE VINE UGANDA!
Hungry. Homeless. Helpless. This is the reality for many of the children of Uganda. 49% of the population is under the age of 15, which is the highest in the world. There are 2.7 million under the age of 18 who are orphans. Uganda has the highest proportion of children orphaned by AIDS worldwide. While tragic on a scale that is hard to comprehend, there is one thing this nation is NOT….. HOPELESS.
God is at work in Uganda, and I have the blessing and privilege to partner with Him on a kingdom mission to bring HOPE, healing, and love to the precious people of this nation. On July 6th, I will be leaving for a small town in Uganda called Kamuli. I am traveling with a team from Truly Fed Ministries to work at an organization they oversee called The Vine Uganda. The Vine serves as a rescue center to Uganda’s most vulnerable children and women. These children often have no parents, and find themselves digging in potato fields looking for food. Many suffer from Jiggers (parasitic bugs) that embed in their feet. The Vine rescues these children and provides them with medical care and a full-time education that includes meals and shelter for the rest of their “school-age” life. In addition to serving children, The Vine also helps widows and needy women by providing daily wages at recurring sewing camps, savings and loans programs, and functional literacy classes that teach women to read and write. This summer one of our main projects is to focus on working in the villages of Kamuli to offer “hygiene clinics” for women as well as to share God's LOVE with the women and children! Please pray over our efforts to help.
I hope you hear in this letter God’s heartbeat for the people of Uganda and will partner with me most importantly in PRAYER! You can also HELP ME GO TO UGANDA! The trips costs $2,800 and any amount raised over that will go to THE VINE ministry!
