Learn about ADNFLE here
Hello my name is Chris Jayme and I have an uncommon type of Epilepsy known as Autosomal Dominant Nocturnal Frontal Lobe Epilepsy or ADNFLE for short. This seizure disorder is fairly uncommon and has less than 200 cases currently documented in the world. I am seeking funds to help me get a seizure response dog to help me gain more independence. Currently I depend heavily on my siblings, friends, and coworkers to help me during seizure emergencies that happen during the day time. However, the biggest challenge is evening time. My seizures mostly happen when I'm asleep. They can range every where from a brief 2 to 20 seconds to upward clusters of 5 to 10 seizures an hour that last minutes at a time. By having a seizure response dog I will be able to give myself and my family peace of mind while sleeping. A dog will also help prevent the potential of Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy or SUDEP. SUDEP Information Link Thank you very much for sharing, donating and hearing my story.
Unfortunate update, on Saturday April 17th, shortly after ordering ice cream with a friend I had a brief seizure. Luckily, my friend was able to brace a majority of my fall. However, I did hit the side of my head. It created a massive headache and made returning to work the next day a near impossible challenge. Seizure recovery time is known as Postictal State. It can last anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. It also varies depending on the length of seizure and the person themselves. Characteristics of Postictal Stage Recovery are: Confusion, Drowsiness, Hypertension, Migraine, Nausea, and other disorienting symptoms.
