We're thrilled to invite you to be a part of a transformative community project right in the heart of rural West Virginia.
With the acquisition of two downtown buildings, we have a unique opportunity to create vibrant spaces where nature, learning, and community intersect.
What We’re Building
Our vision is to develop these spaces into lush, accessible gardens and cozy, welcoming areas for gathering, learning, and relaxation. Here’s what we plan to include:
- Learning Gardens: Featuring raised beds where local children and adults can learn to grow salad greens and vegetables. These gardens will not only educate but also provide fresh produce to our community.
- Grocery Gardens: Where anyone can pick fresh produce for free. This initiative is especially aimed at supporting our elderly neighbors and those on fixed incomes.
- Picnic and Sitting Areas: To encourage community members to spend time outdoors, socialize, and enjoy nature without any pressure to spend money.
How You Can Help
We're reaching out to the community to help fund the essentials:
- Raised Beds and Gardening Supplies
- Picnic Tables and Outdoor Seating
- Other Infrastructure Needs
Every dollar you contribute brings us a step closer to realizing this dream. Here’s how the funds will be used:
- $5,000 for Raised Beds: Durable, accessible self-watering beds suitable for both kids and adults.
- $3,000 for Outdoor Furniture: Safe, sturdy seating and tables for relaxation and social interaction.
- $2,000 for Miscellaneous Costs: Soil, seeds, tools, and other gardening necessities.
Our Community Partners
We're grateful for the support of Sprout School, which has provided us a grant to create a Kids Learning Library.
We also have generous book donations that will stock a Grownup Learning Library, ensuring that our gardens are places of both greenery and knowledge.
