Group Homes Christmas 2018

This campaign is for kids living in group homes in the Glendale/Peoria area in Arizona. But it is really about, a young student of mine, who during the first week of school during class, asked me "Mr. Levesque are we having Christmas again this year at Denny's?" He had a hopeful look on his face, but when I said "Of course we are". His face light up like a Christmas tree and he was so excited. This will be our third Christmas with him. That is what this is all about.
Last year we had Christmas for 103 kids at my local Denny's. We take over a section of the restaurant on Christmas morning, feeding the kids in two shifts. When I say we, I mean my wife and I, and all of you who donate, that make this possible. We now have kids from 10 group homes that we do Christmas for. There are Boys Homes, Girls Homes, and starting last year Sibling Homes. Sibling homes is where they try to keep family's together. Wonderful.
A bit of history. The following is from my first Go Fund Me campaign four years ago:
"My wife and I have for the past 3 years spent Christmas morning with boys from a group home who do not have families to pick them up for Christmas. In other words, they spend Christmas day just like any other day in their group home. I am a teacher in an elementary school. When it came to my attention that one of my 2nd graders (a 7 year old) who lived in the group home had no one and nowhere to go on Christmas, I contacted the group home and found that 3 more of my own students were in the same situation, plus several older high school aged boys. I am ashamed to say I only figured this out in my 15th year of teaching.
Christmas morning the group homes brings the boys to a local Denny's where my wife and I buy breakfast for the boys who are there in the home on Christmas morning. We also bring some gifts; we give them movie money cards to a local movie chain, plus gift cards to a store so they can buy themselves something more personal."
Today, the growth and reach we have comes directly from you, those who give generously each year. Please share and donate.
