Help Support our GroundBreakers

What is courage?

Courage is being unemployed in Ghana and starting a movement to accelerate youth employment across Africa. That is what GroundBreaker Emmanuel Leslie Addae did when he founded the African Internship Academy. Read his story here.

Courage is being born in a refugee community and starting an online restaurant that empowers refugee chefs to share their food and culture. That is what GroundBreaker Noobtsaa Vang did when he started Foodhini. Listen to his story here.

Courage is quitting a stable job in banking to launch a social enterprise dedicated to helping tackle the student loan debt crisis. That is what GroundBreaker Stacie Whisonant did when she started Pay Your Tuition Funds . Here you can read her story.

Courage is why I support these GroundBreakers that are changing our world for the better. Will you join me in supporting them?

For years, GroundBreakers like Emmanuel, Noobstaa, and Stacie have been churning away at the world’s toughest problems, and planting seeds of change. Yet the effort and impact of GroundBreakers is often overlooked.

Ten months ago, we founded GroundBreakers to address this problem. We interviewed over 50 social entrepreneurs in the U.S., Europe, Southeast Asia, and Africa to capture their stories. Since day one, our mission has been to publish their stories of social impact for free online through GroundBreakers Podcast and our articles series.

We launched GroundBreakers Podcast with a team of 2 audio engineers in October 2017. By July 2018, GroundBreakers had grown to 8 audio engineers and writers, broke 3000 listeners and readers, and launched our written Portraits of a GroundBreaker series

GroundBreakers is a rapidly growing social enterprise, network organization, and media platform that is the only one of its kind dedicated to social entrepreneurs. Our mission is to connect the global social entrepreneurship movement through story, networks, and investment. We believe that social impact is a process of transformation and that only social innovations that are homegrown and locally led have the potential to drive impact at scale. Social entrepreneurs are the leaders of this change and we believe that connecting changemakers across sectors is a powerful way to mobilize communities for the future they envision.

But to achieve our mission, we need your help. Help GroundBreakers raise $10,000 for our social entrepreneurs.

We currently have 42 audio interviews with social entrepreneurs that have been recorded but not yet turned into podcast episodes. It costs $50 to turn one raw audio file into an episode, so we would need at least $2100 to publish the GroundBreakers we already interviewed. Another $2500 would allow us to produce the next 50 episodes after that with a focus on GroundBreakers in Africa and Latin America.

Your donation of $50 will go directly to turning a raw audio interview into a polished GroundBreakers podcast episode that tells the story of a social entrepreneur.

Your donation will also help GroundBreakers expand its coverage of social entrepreneurship in Africa and Latin America, produce 50 more written articles ($1200), formally incorporate as a social enterprise ($800), pay our audio engineers and writers fair wages, travel to reach social entrepreneurs in remote areas ($1500), upgrade our audio equipment and website ($1900), and keep our podcasts and articles freely available online.

GroundBreakers wants to continue its mission of sharing the story of social entrepreneurship, so that every one of our listeners and readers feels empowered to be a GroundBreaker in their community.

Thank you,
