Groceries for Wunderbar Staff

Dear Friends & Family,

Due to your generosity, we were able to offer all of our employees $50 per week for 4 weeks to Wegmans Grocery Store to support their health and wellness during this scary time. As most of our employees are now on unemployment or other stabling position, we are closing this GoFundMe initiative. We cannot wait to reopen and have them all back slinging drinks and laughing with all of our community members and friends. It is humbling to know that our friends and networks will come out to support Wunderbar staff, and we cannot thank you enough for your love, intention and energy. Syracuse, NY – Due to COVID-19, Wunderbar had to close its doors on Monday, March 16 for the unforeseen future. Unfortunately, without the capability to do take-out orders and without any real income (other than those gorgeous friends who are buying gift certificates!), we are unable to pay these 11 really amazing employees.

This fund is to help these beautiful people - Ashley, Andy, Melissa, Steve, Nicole, Kevin, Kez, Ciara, Quentin, Sarah & Robert! 

While we are closed, all raised funds will go to purchasing weekly gift cards for all Wunderbar employees to local grocery stores. If there are leftover funds after we reopen, the remaining funds will go directly into Payroll costs to keep them working as we build up our little Queer Bar & Theatre in Syracuse, NY to sustainability post-COVID-19 once again. 

Wunderbar is the German word for Wonderful. And while these are less than wonderful times, we just wanted to say how full of wonder, awe and humility we are, as the world comes together to navigate this uniquely catastrophic time. Thank you so much, for all of your support.
