Arte Fogata Art Workshop Bolivia

As an artist, I aspire to use my creative talents to give back to those in need – be it in my own community of New York City or in communities around the world.
Five years ago I started traveling to Bolivia to teach art workshops to children being cared for by Fundacíon Alalay (www.fundacionalalay.org) a Bolivian based non-profit that cares for children living in at-risk circumstances in La Paz. Many of these children have endured incredible challenges such as homelessness, economic poverty, and emotional and physical abuse.
With over 20 years of experience working with at-risk youth I realize the integral role creativity plays in helping children overcome barriers to personal growth and transformation.
My program, called Arte Fogata (loosely translated "Art Bonfire"), offers engaging art workshops that encourage children to explore their imagination, consider their dreams, and process their feelings in a variety of creative projects.
This July-August, 20120 I will return to La Paz and the nearby town of Huajchilla, Bolivia to continue working with these amazing kids.
This month-long workshop I’m asking you to help support will serve more than 100 children between the ages of 7-16 and focus on drawing, painting and mixed media art projects.
I’m asking for your financial support to help make this opportunity a reality!
My financial goal for this project is $15,000. Your contributions to my GoFundMe campaign will help cover all expenses related to bringing this engaging, fun, and positive experience to these amazing children living in extremely challenging circumstances.
From my past experiences in Bolivia I can share that the kids are incredibly grateful for all the donations that bring them this opportunity to create and have fun with art!
