Griffith School is a hub for community sports and activities, not only for its own students but for those from other schools as well.
We are in need of an outdoor scoreboard to help facilitate these activities and further increase the participation and engagement of community members in our programs.
Our students and families would be honored by your support to make this project a reality! Please consider donating what you can, or at the very least sharing this project with your social network to spread the word!
Griffith participates in a city-wide after-school sports league, meaning our field is used regularly to host football, baseball, and soccer games, community track meets, baseball and softball clinics, and more throughout the year. Griffith also hosts games for all levels of Camelback East Little League (ages 5-12). Little League participants come from all over east Phoenix.
We're proud to host school and community events throughout the year (including an evening event called 'Giants Run the Night,' shown above)! Our school is committed to promoting healthy and active living through its distinguished physical education and nutritional programs.
No other school in our community has a multi-purpose scoreboard capable of facilitating so many activities. We will use this project to continue to build on our role as a community hub for organized sports and activities.
The total cost of this project will be over $10,000, which includes the equipment and installation. We've already raised $5,000 through a wonderful grant partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the University of Phoenix! We're hoping to raise a substantial portion of the remaining funds online, in order to keep school district funds directed toward the classrooms as much as possible. Our goal is to complete this project in time for the beginning of the summer baseball leagues.
The opportunity for you to give back to our youth and community programs that will benefit from the use of this new scoreboard is priceless. Griffith is located in the heart of an economically impoverished community that relies on organized sports and other activities that the school is able to provide. However, we cannot achieve the community impact we desire on our own.
