Griffeys medical expenses

Donation protected

In the middle of the night on Friday, March 2nd. Our beloved baby Griffey yelped out in pain waking Blane and me from a dead sleep. When checking on Griffey we found him paralyzed. We rushed him to Paws and Claws at 2:00 am. Griffey had numerous test done. Abdominal X-rays, blood work Iv, and medications to help with pain. The Dr. sent his X-rays to a specialist and they found he might have had a herniated disk in his neck.  We had to leave our Boy at the vet for hours not knowing what was going on and if he'd ever walk again.

Once our primary care vet opened they recommended we take him to Sage in Redwood City to see a neurologist asap because time was of the essence for a spinal injury.  They were able to fit us in Thank the Lord so we rushed Griffey down where we were met by a wonderful team of specialist.

They explained the possibilities of what could be going on and suggested an MRI. After hours of not knowing what was going on, we finally had some answers.  The neurologist came and met with us to go over Griffeys results. She starts by saying she had good news. Griffey would not need surgery.

The MRI showed he had an Acute non-compressive disc extrusion or Fibrocartilagenous embolism. Both diagnoses would require round the clock care but Griffey should recovery back to 80% or more within a few months of rehab. This was a tall order to fill but we are so fortunate that our baby wasnt dying.

Griffey has been at home resting. But due to his paralysis, he is unable to walk or pee on his own for now. Mom and Dad are exhausted and scared to death for our baby. But are doing everything we can to help our Boy heal and recover.

Griffeys recovery is about 2 months. Which will require future vet visits, PT, another MRI scan and possibly surgery if the spine does not heal on its own. Due to all the medical expenses, lost wages and future medical expenses ahead. We are asking for any and all help.

If you know Griffey you know what an amazing animal he is. But not just that how much his Mom and Dad love him. He is our world and the last thing we want is to lose him because of medical expenses.

If you can find it in your heart to help us help our boy we are forever in your debt.  If you are unable to donate we ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers for comfort and healing through this difficult time.

I know not everyone will understand why we go to great lengths for our fur baby's but to us, they aren't just pets they are members of the family. And we love them as such. Thank you, doesn't seem to be enough.
