Grieving for Iann

As some of you may know my sisters son was fighting for his life for 5 days at banner thunderbird hospital & Phoenix children’s hospital. My sister could not conceive for 2 years & finally a miracle happened & she was pregnant with her first child Iann. Last weekend Iann was having high fevers & his eyes were rolling back into his head which forced my sister to take him to the hospital & prior to she took him to urgent care because he was already having fever for 3 days & they told him his ears were clear of infection. When they went to the hospital he couldn’t keep anything down & his fever was not going away so they ran all kinds of tests & told my sister he had fluid behind his ears from a ruptured sinus because he had swelling of the brain (meningitis & encephalitis). He was flown to PCH to do put tubes in his ears to drain the fluid & my sister thought that would be the end & they would get to go home. That night an MRI showed tiny specs of bacteria in his brain & was already under extreme antibiotics so they thought the medications would fight it but only a few hours later they took another MRI & it showed the bacteria had already spread to 75% of his brain & there was no way to stop the infection. Even after all of ours prayers it could not save him & the infection in his brain eventually left him brain dead & his body eventually gave up. My sister took off all his tubes & he died in her arms. My sisters only dream in life was to be a mom as it was so hard for her to conceive with him & it was all ripped away within only a few days. Iann was only 20 months old & past away the day before mother’s day. They are completely devastated & at a loss of words as it does not even seem real. Any money donated will help cover funeral expenses, money for my sister to take off to grieve, & any other thing her family may need.
