My name is Pam Kozaruk Yott, and our good friend (and my best friend), Greg Winsininski, needs our help. If you are lucky enough to know Greg, you will certainly know and understand his reluctance to reach out - so we are asking for him!
Greg’s life drastically changed a few months ago after fighting a dangerous bout of pneumonia. Unfortunately, while being treated for the pneumonia, he was presented with the devastating diagnosis of congestive heart failure. He was told he had severe blockages in his arteries. On May 2, 2018 Greg had to endure an unexpected triple bypass heart surgery. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, but his heart is enlarged, very weak, and severely damaged. Due to the condition of his heart, Greg is at high risk for possible sudden cardiac arrest. Currently he is required to wear a LifeVest 24/7 for a minimum of 3 months, but could potentially have to wear this life saving device for up to a year. The LifeVest serves as a personal defibrillator as it monitors his heart continuously in case he goes into life threatening arrhythmia. If that were to occur, the LifeVest would deliver a shock treatment that is meant to hopefully restore his heart.
On May 10, 2018, Greg was released from the hospital to begin his long road to recovery. Due to the extremely poor condition of his heart, his recovery time, which will include physical therapy, will take longer and possibly be more extensive than your average person. Full recovery should take approximately one year, but if his heart remains enlarged, regaining his health could take much longer. Greg was blindsided by this diagnosis. This was not something he could have prepared for.
Let’s rally together! As Greg recovers, he will be unable to work. With our support, we can help reduce the financial burden of high medical and rehabilitation expenses he has incurred as a result of this unexpected surgery. Also to assist with monthly bills as well as unforeseen things as they come in.
Arts for Hearts, a non-profit organization founded by Roy and Angela Sims, supports striving artists as well as heart disease. Roy and Angela have graciously provided Greg with a temporary home to recover comfortably at. There will be a benefit in his honor at First Place Lounge, located at 16921 Harper Ave in Detroit, on June 23, 2018 beginning at 6pm.
We will have raffles with awesome prizes to be won, great food, and cocktails of course. If you would like to donate to the fundraiser either by volunteering your time, donating a prepared basket or a raffle prize, please contact Pam Yott at [phone redacted].
Greg is one of my very best friends. I want him to be able to focus on his health without the stress of the gigantic financial burden that accompanies a recovery such as his. Please stop up to First Place Lounge on June 23, 2018, please share this post, or simply say a prayer. Any help is greatly appreciated! Together we can make a difference!
Love to you all.
