Greg's Recovery and Medical Expenses

For those that don't know, my dad Greg Findley has spent the last week in the ICU. Sunday evening he went to the stand alone ER due to shortness of breath and it was determined that he had severe pneumonia. As the hours went on his shortness of breath got worse, his heart rate was increasing, and his oxygen levels were decreasing. After hours in the ER they finally decided to admit him to south baldwin medical center.

Unfortunately, due to lack of urgency and proper care at the stand alone ER, he was going downhill quickly. Luckily there were incredible paramedics in the ambulance that recognized that he had flash pulmonary edema and called to have the hospital prepped for their arrival. Shortly after arriving at the hospital life saving measures were taken and the doctors sedated and intubated him. He stayed intubated and sedated for almost two days and it was determined that he had pneumonia, pulmonary edema, and renal failure.

By Tuesday morning he was stable enough to wean him off of the sedation to see how well he was breathing on his own. Luckily he was breathing well and a few hours later they were able to take him off of the ventilator. The following days were challenging as we got good news but also a lot of bad news.

His breathing, chest scans, and kidney functions were very slowly improving but we found out that his heart was very weak and only functional half as well as it should. His heart function is only at 25%, which is considered heart failure. After an exploratory cardiocath, the cardiologist found that the largest artery in his heart was 75% blocked and a stint was placed. The Stent has helped blood flow but his heart function and strength is still very low.

Today he was released from ICU after almost a week. Although he is out of the ICU, he still has a long recovery ahead of him. Over the next few months he will he doing cardiac Rehabilitation and seeing his cardiologist frequently with the goal of strengthening his heart enough to have a cardioablation.

Many of you know, my dad is a very hard worker and has 3 jobs. He is a surf fishing guide, bartender, and works the grill at a resturaunt. All his jobs require a lot of physical activity and being on his feet, and the condition of his heart will not allow him to do a ton of physical labor.
Him and his fiance have been out of work for a week and he will not be able to work as much as he's used to over the next couple months. They also know they will start seeing medical bills very soon.

I have created this gofundme to help take some financial stress off of him and his fiance. Any donated money will go directly to them and will help them cover bills that are due and medical bills they will be receiving. We are so grateful for everyone who has been praying hard for our family this week and checking in on us! Thank you!

Update: I have updated the fundraising goal after finding out that all the medication they have prescribed was over $2000, with insurnace! Thank you so so much to everyone that has donated and shared the link, it means the world!

Update: Dad has started cardiac Rehabilitation therapy and will continue to do so 3x per week for 36 sessions. Although he did get a stint, the function of his heart is still only at 25%. The goal is to try and strengthen his heart and then do a cardioablation to help correct his a-fib. His doctors have let him know it will likely be months before he can return to work. He is feeling good but trying to take it slow and be patient with the process. We all want to say thank you to everyone who has donated so far, it really has been such a big help for them already! We are blessed to he surrounded with such an amazing community of people. ❤️
