Help Support Gregory's Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Help Gregory, a twenty-one year old Morgan State University engineering student, fight cancer for a second time.

-----

Gregory is 21 and beat cancer a year ago (non-hodgkin's lymphoma), which he had been battling since age eighteen. But now, the cancer is back. He has been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or pre-leukemia, a blood cancer that could only be treated by a bone marrow transplant. Luckily, his mother was a half-match and underwent a procedure to donate her marrow to Gregory, who received the transplant and is in the postoperative period now.

These are tough, touch-and-go times. He goes to Johns Hopkins Hospital every single day for monitoring and treatment, so that he can receive the best chance at survival. And when he’s at home, someone needs to be there 24-7. Tia takes care of Gregory during the day and works nights at her hourly job to maintain health insurance and continue to cover household expenses. Family and friends come to be with Gregory on rotating nights of the week. I’m here right now as I post this.

We are rallying together and making it through these times, while we support Gregory in his fight. But, we need your help to provide some relief of the financial toll. It's expensive to travel back and forth to the hospital and to pay for prescriptions, and it’s incredibly difficult for his mother Tia--one of my best friends for twenty years--to not be able to take off work for a few hours here and there, for fear of the time off affecting her ability to pay the rent. "We're drowning," she says.

I’ve set up a GoFundMe because I know that if we all provide a little, it’d go a long way to help this family. If you’re just barely getting by yourself, even $5, $10 or $20 would help with gas, an Uber, or a prescription co-pay. Or if you’re in a position to help more, $25, $50, $100 or $500 would quickly tick down the bills, help to replace the car that was destroyed by the downtown steam pipe incident in the middle of all this, or importantly, allow Tia to take some time off and still support her family.

This is happening now and anything you can do will help. Thank you. Your generosity and kindness will mean more than you know.
