Necessities for the Greggs Family

Our names are Woody Pognon & Gary M. Phillip. We have created this page for our very close friends Donald and Venus Greggs. We’ve known Don and Venus since our days at Alfred State College where they first met. They're a hard working family that is filled with love! 

After moving from upstate to NY to Texas, Don and Venus decided to have Venus elderly parents move to Texas to help with her father disabilities caused by a recent stroke. After calling 911 to help a near by car that was stuck in flood caused by Harvey, the entire family including their two kids Alana, Mason and their in-law that were in a wheelchair was canoed to safety as the water continued to rise. The family was rescued by canoe during the late night as rising waters ravaged through their entire home. Don grabbed what he could of the family and wedding photos but a lot was left behind. Hurricane Harvey has destroyed their home and two cars. The flood destroyed most of their belongings. After being in the pouring rain for hours, a friend who spotted them brought the entire family including their rescued dog to stay with them for a few days.

They have since returned to the house to find sewage, and toxic water from the streets receded in their home. And like many, they did not live in a flood zone that means insurance will be little to no help. Even if the government intervenes, we all know it will never be enough and too late.

We would like to help get them back on their feet as fast as possible and try to assist them with getting them mobile again with a car, help with major home repairs. They are well over $100K in damages.
