We've started this gofundme campaign to raise money to help with the medical costs and living expenses of Gregg Hielema.
Gregg is a 45 year old loving father, husband, former youth pastor and one of the best men I've been fortunate enough to know.
He spent a large portion of his early married life dedicating his time and energy to helping guide youth as a youth pastor in Mitchell, South Dakota. The family now lives on an hobby farm in Wisconsin, where Gregg works hard and enjoys his job as an IT department manager for a regional health care center in Wausau.
Gregg's wife of 25 years, Heather Hielema, homeschools their 3 boys, Noah (16), Joel (14), and Josh (12), so the household is constantly on the go. Gregg still finds the time to volunteer and help run the homeschool youth group. He also coaches his son's little league.
Gregg has always been a high energy, busy family man. However, over the last 2 months he started to experience significant weight loss and fatigue. He was admitted to the hospital and underwent a litany of medical tests.
On July 19, 2017 Gregg was told he has multiple lesion spots on his liver, and then on July 21 he was informed that he has adeno cancer. The exact origin of the cancer is still being determined; however, Gregg and Heather are heading to the Cancer Treatment Center of America near Chicago for further testing and to determine the best course of treatment.
We're looking to raise the $25,000 to assist the Hielema family with travel costs, deductibles, and out of pocket medical expenses.
