Greg & Dawn Lee: Fighting Together!
Donation protected
Dawn and Greg Lee built their life together on the foundation of faith in God, love and family. Through their unselfishness, strength and perseverance, they approach every challenge as a platform for connecting with others and for bringing God's love into our broken world. Through every trial they face, they are steadfast in putting everyone else first. Now, they need our help.
Four years ago Greg Lee was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. Then, on April 4, 2018, in the echo of three life-changing words, "you have cancer," Dawn was thrust from her role as a faithful caregiver and sole breadwinner into a fight for her own life.
The process of fighting Greg's cancer the past four years has severely impacted them financially and the future costs of fighting two cancers at the same time are overwhelming. We are hoping to raise enough money to cover their ongoing medical costs and the loss of income from the inability to work fulltime, while both are being medically treated. All funds donated will go directly toward offsetting their expenses and allowing them to continue to fight.
Dawn and Greg are eternally grateful for your prayers and any support you can provide.
Greg's Story
In 2014, Greg was shaving one morning and noticed a lump on the right side of his neck. Three physicians and two biopsies later, the diagnosis was confirmed. Squamous cell carcinoma.
To make matters worse, two months after Greg's second biopsy, he began experiencing extreme vertigo, headaches and other symptoms. After seeing several doctors, the source of the problems was diagnosed as Type 1 diabetes. The healthy diet he had begun to fight the cancer was no longer healthy for him.
The next eighteen months would see continued tumor growth, and a dramatic increase in fatigue. Greg was forced to cease working in March 2016 to allow his body to heal and recover from the trauma. His neck tumor was the size of a large grapefruit and was causing a tremendous amount of nerve damage and pain. In September 2016, Greg was not expected to survive long enough to see Christmas.

Yet, God had other plans. Greg was referred to another radiation oncologist, who offered a new procedure: extremely high doses of radiation over a short period of time. Over the next nine months the tumor continued to shrink, far beyond everyone's expectations. One could use the word 'miracle' when describing how much better Greg's quality of life became. Not cured. Not in remission. But Greg was Greg again and life was so much better!

Unfortunately, Greg’s fight is not over. On Feb. 2, 2018, a scan revealed that the tumor had doubled in size and was growing again. The limited treatment options are being explored and the future is uncertain, but Dawn and Greg aren’t giving up.
Dawn's Story
Dawn is a natural caregiver. She is 100% a Mom to her kids and a Nana to her grandkids. Over the past four years, her superhero skills were called upon while serving as Greg's caregiver, supporting their family financially and caring for an untold number of women through her job as a RN at an OB-GYN clinic.

Her own battle with cancer began in April 2018, when cramping and a GI bleed landed her in the ER. The CT scan showed a mass in her colon and she was kept overnight for more tests. The bleeding was so severe, Dawn lost two liters of blood the first day. The subsequent scope and biopsy revealed a large cancerous mass that needed to be removed.
Surgery went well, but the tumor was larger than anyone expected and of the 27 lymph nodes that were removed, 15 tested positive for cancer. Dawn was diagnosed with high risk, Stage 3c colon cancer. As her body recovers from the surgery, Dawn is meeting with colorectal oncologists to discuss the different options for chemotherapy. She is facing six months of intense treatment.
Their Walk with Grace
Throughout the past four years and even with Dawn's new diagnosis, Dawn and Greg have walked with grace, joy and dignity. Their positive spirit and giving nature is constant. Their story is not about cancer or the incredible odds facing a couple battling cancer together at the same time. Their story is about how they have used their diagnosis to inspire others in similar situations and through it all spread the love of God. Instead of letting cancer control them, they used it for good and put the needs of others over their own.
But now, they need our help.
Help to continue their journey, as they face long chemo treatment protocols, staggering medical bills and the inability to work fulltime as they heal.
Help to know that their friends and family stand next to them during this battle.
Help to know that they don't have to face this fight alone.
Please help Dawn and Greg
Life is precious to Dawn and Greg as they watch their children and grandchildren grow and experience the awesome world God created. God, faith and family are at the center of their lives and they would love to be able to experience as much time with family and friends as God allows.
