DECLINING HEALTH
Michelle (Desrys) Lykken, her husband Greg and their son Scott, of Forestville, CA have been immersed with Michelle’s debilitating end-stage non-alcoholic liver disease for over 5 years.  Her health has been declining significantly over the past several months.  She has been in and out of hospitals and nursing homes with her most recent hospital re-admittance in early April. It was determined that she would not qualify for a liver transplant.  Due to her liver’s declining ability to process fluids, her fate was left to draining the fluids in her lung linings and abdomen several times a week.

HISTORY
The Lykken’s are 28-year residents of Forestville moving to their home there when Scott was 1 year old.  The couple have been married for 33 years, having met each other 2 weeks after Greg moved to CA. Michelle was born and raised in Antioch, CA.  Michelle always the life-of-the-party and a go-getter was a consummate salesperson holding and excelling in positions in predominately male-oriented fields of commercial food sales and pest control. She later turned her talents to computer technology in the ‘90’s and taught grade school kids (including more than several teachers) all about computers and the then infant Internet world.  Unfortunately, her disease wiped this knowledge from her memory, which frustrated her to no end.  Greg has been in the construction industry all his life and has been a construction project manager for a regional construction management firm the last 15 years.

HEAD-ON COLLISION
On April 8, 2019, Greg was in a severe vehicle crash on River Road, midway between Forestville and Santa Rosa, CA.  Fortunately, Greg (the lone occupant in his vehicle), as well as the occupants in the other vehicle survived however, the Jaws of Life had to be used to extricate Greg and was flown by helicopter to the Trauma Center at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He suffered numerous broken bones with the most critical being fractures to his right leg and a crushed right heel and ankle.  He was in intensive care, has had three surgeries, and has just been moved to a post-acute care facility after three weeks in the hospital. Due to his non-weight bearing right foot his rehabilitation at this facility will last at least six weeks, followed by an undetermined (9-12 weeks most likely) of weight-bearing rehab.

UNTIMELY DEATH

Greg and Michelle were both in the same hospital on April 26, 2019, when sadly Michelle passed away due to organ failure caused by the liver disease.  Her passing was somewhat unexpected as she had only been put on hospice care the day before. Hospice was exceptional in her care allowing Greg to be in the same room bedside to bedside holding hands at the time she passed on to the Lord and her waiting mother and father.  Greg and Scott have been devastated.

OVERWHELMING HARDSHIP
They are overwhelmed emotionally and now, financially.  They need to plan Michelle’s funeral, pay numerous uncovered expenses for Michelle’s care, and make modifications to their Forestville home which includes multiple levels even to get to the 1st floor of their 2-story home.  How does one accomplish that when laid up and a patient in a post-acute care facility?

PRAYER AND DONATION REQUEST
Please pray for Greg and Scott’s healing and recovery both emotionally and physically and for peace and comfort — if you are able, please make a donation to help lift the financial burden off of this grieving husband and son.  The trauma they are experiencing is so painful and overwhelming.  Your gift will be a blessing!  Thank you in advance for your compassionate support and generosity.
