Green St Renters' Legal Fees

Donation protected
We are four renters on Green Street in Jamaica Plain, and we are suing the developer Mordechai Levin and the Boston Zoning Board of Appeals for Levin’s new proposed development on the Washington and Green St intersection. We are worried that our neighborhood will be detrimentally altered by this new building, since it will not be affordable to the current demographic of the area. We love our block due to it’s diversity in age, race, ability and income and we care about our neighbors and the impact that gentrification has on us all.

Many community members spoke out against the development during public hearings and meetings, yet our concerns were ignored. The ZBA has approved the building even though it does not comply with zoning laws in the area nor with the requests of the neighbors. Furthermore, our concerns about traffic, safety, health and parking have not been addressed. As a last resort, we are taking legal action, and we need your support.

We don't know what the outcome will be, but we are at least hoping for improvements on the current plan.  Any money that we raise past our legal fees will be donated to local housing advocacy work.

Since we value that voices of the community, please feel free to voice your thoughts here.
