Welcome! We are a team of fourth year engineering students at the Baskin School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz, and we are designing and building a control module that automates greenhouse control processes in order to create a cheaper and more efficient way to increase crop yield.
Your donation would help us pay for this project's upcoming costs such as replacement sensors, PCB milling, test equipment, and late night ramen breaks!
Greenhouses require both proper ventilation and control to maintain the environment best suited for plant growth. Having an autonomous system in place to maintain an optimal environment within a greenhouse is important for maximizing the crop yield and overall crop health. However, implementing such a system can be expensive, with current available solutions in the market costing between $10,000 and $100,000. By building a cheap module/sensor package that is capable of monitoring light intensity and exposure, humidity, temperature, as well as other systems in real time based on sensor provided data of current conditions, we can effectively maintain these fragile environments autonomously for under $1,000.
