Greater La Crosse Artist Relief Fund

ABOUT THIS FUNDRAISER

This fundraiser is organized by
Mid West Music Fest . 100% of funds donated go directly to artists/creatives in the La Crosse, Vernon, and Winona Counties who have been financially impacted by event/gig cancellations, the inability to sell their work, book shows, or lost revenue from other employment being eliminated due to COVID-19. We will try to help as many artists in these counties as we can.

Please help us spread the message ❤️

The mission of the MWMF is to promote music and art in the region, creating opportunities for artists, stimulating downtown economic development, and providing diverse educational resources for artists, community members, and children.

This Mid West Music Fest initiative is in solidarity and collaboration with Aaron Brice and his organization, Ambient Inks, who launched a similar relief fund  to support artists in the Chippewa Valley. Thank you for inspiring us.

HOW LOCAL ARTISTS ARE BEING IMPACTED

The widespread cancellation of concerts and events has a disproportionate impact on the local arts community - especially those who rely on gigs/events to pay their bills.

As COVID-19 continues to spread in our state and the country, many will continue to stay close to home in order to help prevent the spread of this virus.  This virus can be devastating to our elderly, disabled, and medically compromised friends and neighbors and social distancing is one of the certain ways that we can lovingly stop it from spreading to members of our community.

Musicians, DJ’s, dancers, visual artists, designers, digital artists, makers, arts presenters, actors, filmmakers, photographers, spoken word artists, comedians, creative writers, teaching artists and other creative individuals—all whose jobs rely on people showing up and being able to access their work. In this area, we are now seeing canceled events through the summer and potentially beyond. A large percentage of artists supplement their incomes with part time jobs, often in the service industry, another industry being hit hard by this pandemic.

Even as states begin to re-open, gatherings of large groups are still discouraged, leaving many in the art community without paying gigs/events.  The future is uncertain for many.

That is why we’ve started this fundraising campaign.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR OUR REGION

Creative practice, innovation and art have been woven into the culture of our community for generations. Arts presenters and arts venues have attracted diverse talent here for decades, all while infusing our region with economic viability.

If you have a favorite local musician, artist, mural, fest, or venue, please consider supporting them at this time as they need your support.

Art is what reflects our culture, beliefs and identity, It not only chronicles our lives and experiences, but documents history while helping us all heal, allowing us a form of expression. Now, more than ever is the time to protect what’s important.

Artists of the Greater LaCrosse Area-we see you and want you to feel supported.
